Thank you for volunteering your time and your skills! We now have three ways for individual volunteers to get involved - in our Clubs, at our Program Support Center, or for one-time opportunities. Please read on to find the opportunity that best fits your interests. 1) Club Program VolunteersClub Program Volunteers play a crucial role in our day-to-day Club activities. These volunteers not only provide additional supervision in the Clubs, but bring their own expertise to enhance programming, support the Club staff, and provide additional positive adult interactions with members.
How would you like to make a big difference in a child's life?
- Read a book with a child
- Help a teen learn Web design or music mixing
- Teach classes on painting, cooking, sewing, dancing, or acting
- Tutor kids who need help with homework
- Help kids practice their athletic skills and teach good sportsmanship
- Run a pool, ping pong, or foosball tournament
- Lead a class in your area of expertise
- Help a Club member with creative writing or poetry
- Assist staff on a bike ride or field trip
- And much more!
Requirements:
- This opportunity is open to individuals age 18 and up, who are committed to volunteering in the Clubs for a minimum of two hours per week for three months.

- Attend V.E.T. (Volunteer Extensive Training) - Click here to view upcoming trainings.
- Pass a background check to ensure volunteer suitability.
Requirements for volunteers at the Robert M. Shopneck Branch in Brighton:
- This opportunity is open to individuals age 18 and up, who are committed to volunteering in the Clubs for a minimum of two hours per week for three months.

2) Program Support Volunteers
Program Support Volunteers are vital in keeping our behind-the-scenes operations running. These volunteers assist with program support functions such as administrative work, computer maintenance and Web design, special event planning and implementation, and general facilities maintenance on an ongoing basis.

Requirements:
- Attend a Volunteer Orientation session - as arranged and specified by department.
- Sign a liability waiver and confidentiality waiver.

3) One-Time Opportunities
Join our Volunteer Corps! This special group of individuals focuses on one-time special events and projects. As a member of our Volunteer Corps, you will receive specialized communications with upcoming opportunities that you can choose to participate in. Volunteer Corps is the perfect group for volunteers who want to help Boys & Girls Clubs through a wide variety of rewarding volunteer activities with less time commitment.
Volunteer Corps opportunities include:
- Scrub-a-Club - Help us provide a clean, welcoming, kid-friendly environment at our Clubs! Volunteer activities may include washing and painting walls, cleaning carpets, planting flowers, and general Club clean-up activities.
- Club Program Events - Help with special programs and events at the Clubs! Opportunities may include: Haunted House set-up and tear down (October), Pinewood Derby judges (Summer), State Gameroom Tournament officials (November) and many more!
- Special Events - Help BGCMD with projects that help make our fundraising events run smoothly. Opportunities may include: Helping with runner registration at Day for Kids Dash, preparing silent auction items for the annual Youth of the Year Gala, and much more! With your help, we can raise the dollars needed to help us provide a safe and enriching place for young people to go after the school bell rings.
